From Tweens to Young Adults

People think I am crazy to want to work with teens, as they seem complicated to the view of some adults. There are a lot of changes that occur during this crucial time of life, physical, neurological, emotional, hormonal, and academic... However, I enjoy being their trusting adult, their guide, and their confident. I have an non-judgmental posture, and I can be there to hold you through your personal growth, as you find your way.

Nobody said growing up was easy! Dealing with the pressure to fit in, to excel, to stand out, to socialize, and to be the best version of yourself, all while you are figuring out life and who you want to be, it sometimes feels a "little" overwhelming. Some of the most common issues I work with are relationship with parents, social media, internet addiction, conflicts with friends, bullies, victims of bullying, anxiety (social, performance, etc.), and depression.

Feel free to send me a message asking any questions you may have. I look forward to working with you.

School Counseling

After more than 7 years in the local public school district, I have had the pleasure to work with a wide variety of students from different backgrounds, and with different interests, abilities, and challenges. I understand what they go through on a daily basis, the demands of each grade level, supporting them in their daily needs. From creating educational socio-emotional curricula, to providing individualized or group counseling, I made myself available to meet each of my students, and know them by their name.

I had been a Special Needs Advocate facilitating IEPs (Individualized Education Plan) and section 504s, supporting students and their parents, as well as providing assistance in the classroom to teachers and school personnel, to make sure they receive an appropriate and meaningful education in the least restrictive environment, and with their needed support.

I also have a vast experience working with Gifted and Talented students as a GATE (Gifted And Talented Education) Coordinator, attuned to the needs of this population, supporting students and parents with identification, enrichment opportunities, services, school choices and applications, and training teachers in providing accelerated, deep, meaningful, and novel instruction.

Planning college and career fairs, administering interest assessments, providing guidance to transition to the next school level, writing recommendation letters, leadership and mentorship programs, and community service opportunities had been some of the activities I enjoyed the most... always having students in mind.

As a Pupil Personnel Service, I was also responsible of providing Psychological First Aid, Parents Workshops, and facilitated Community Circles as a Restorative Justice expert.

Should you have any questions about any of these topics or other one in the educational setting, feel free to reach out. I will do my best to support you or gear you in the right direction.
